Terms of Service

The service

openbooks.fyi provides bookkeeping and Hawaii tax-compliance support, including transaction categorization, monthly close, General Excise Tax (GET) preparation and filing, license-renewal tracking, and related tools. Features vary by plan.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information and account access you provide, for reviewing and approving filings and payments before they are submitted, and for your own compliance obligations. You agree to use the service lawfully and not to misuse or attempt to disrupt it.

Filings and approvals

We prepare filings and payments as drafts for your approval. We are not your attorney or CPA, and preparation of a return is not a substitute for professional tax or legal advice. Final responsibility for what is filed rests with you.

Fees and cancellation

Plans are billed monthly at the rates shown on our pricing section. There is no long-term contract; you may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. Promotional terms, such as a free first month, apply as described at signup.

Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, openbooks.fyi disclaims implied warranties and limits its liability to the amount you paid in the prior twelve months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

We collect the information you provide (such as your name, business details, and contact information) and financial data from the accounts you connect (transactions, balances, and related records) in order to provide bookkeeping and compliance services.

How we use it

We use your information to categorize and reconcile your books, prepare and file your GET returns, track your licenses, communicate with you, and improve the service. We do not sell your data or share it with third-party data brokers.

How we protect it

We connect to financial accounts on a read-only basis, store data behind authentication and row-level security, and limit access to the people servicing your account. See our security page for more.

Service providers

We rely on service providers — such as a bank-aggregation provider, payment processor, and cloud hosting — who process data on our behalf under their own terms. If you connect an AI assistant, data you request flows to that provider under your connection.

Your choices

You can request access to or deletion of your data, and you can disconnect connected accounts and AI connectors at any time. Contact us to make a request.
