Candid
Candid
OpenBooks pre-fills your Candid (GuideStar) nonprofit profile from your verified 990 data and walks you through submitting for a Seal of Transparency.
What OpenBooks does with Candid
- Auto-fills your Candid profile fields from your sourced 990 record.
- Generates a guided, copy-paste submission (Candid has no public write API).
- Never fabricates a field — anything it cannot source is flagged for your input.
What data flows
← OpenBooks reads
- Your verified 990 record
- Organization profile fields
→ OpenBooks writes
- A pre-filled Candid submission draft (you submit it)
Trust & security
- Access
- Uses only your own already-public 990 data. Candid has no write API, so submission is a guided copy-paste you control.
- Revoke
- You submit to Candid yourself; OpenBooks stores no Candid credentials.
- Encryption & handling
- Processed on OpenBooks-controlled infrastructure, encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Never shared with third-party model providers (local-only data doctrine). See /security.
Full detail on how we handle your data lives on our security page.
